Our Mission
PANO (formerly NYCWF) champions inclusion in Film, TV, and Media by connecting underrepresented creators with influential networks, valuable resources, and career-changing opportunities to impact meaningful change in the industry.
NYCWF is now Pano
As we enter our 7th year in operation, much has changed within the organization. What started as a small in-person meet-up in a room at NYU has grown to a thriving network of over 6k filmmakers. In the past, a lot of our networking happened in person, in New York City only. We look forward to bringing back in-person events (hopefully this year!) but the move to virtual programming increased accessibility for many folks, and allowed new filmmakers to find and join us! Our members now span not only the US, but the world, reaching as far as the UK, Australia, South America, and beyond! Our new online platform – the Network has helped countless members find crew, get hired, and seek advice.
With this rapid growth, we at NYC Women Filmmakers (NYCWF) started to feel that our current name was a bit limiting. In an effort to better encompass our unique brand and offerings, we’ve debuted a new name and logo for 2022.
Don’t worry – our mission hasn’t changed. We are still the organization that you know and love – dedicated to advancing the careers of women, non-binary, GNC creators in Film, TV & Media. We remain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging community to collaborate, ask questions & share your wins. So, without further ado…
Introducing…

A wider view of talent in the film industry
PANO, from panoramic / panorama, reflects our commitment to the wide spectrum of artists we serve – above and below the line, women, non-binary, and GNC folks. We hope that in this new name you will feel reflected, included, and proud to be a part of our community.
We know that change takes time. You will see our materials branded with both names for a little while, as we all adjust. Thank you for being a part of NYCWF, now PANO.
We look forward to this next chapter together!
Pano (formerly NYC Women Filmmakers) formed in 2015 out of need. Seeing a lack of women on set and at work, founder Cidney Hue sent out an informal invite to her network. That first meetup of 15 women grew as more women reached out to friends, colleagues, and now, 7 years, 6,000+ members and 150+ free events later, here we are!
As an organization, Pano stands for and supports underrepresented women, non-binary, and GNC creators in every aspect of the entertainment industry. We firmly believe Inclusion + Influence will create the Impact we aim for in film & media.
We tackle the big topics: finding more and better work; getting paid fairly; diversity and equality in front of and behind the camera. Our programming is growing all the time with our private online platform for underrepresented filmmakers including an active jobs board, microgrants, mentorship, screenings, socials, and skill-building workshops in all aspects of filmmaking.
We have big goals to create more opportunities for underrepresented filmmakers through the collective power of our community. We’ve seen that power firsthand through the many projects, collaborations, connections, and opportunities our filmmakers have forged with each other over the years.
We still have more work to do to create an equitable industry reflective of our world and welcome everyone to join us in building this future together.
